It has tagged a lot of names.. apocalypse, the end of creatures, end time name them.,.. as far back as my memory could grab , these tales and predictions have always been seen in the past. Harold camping's predictions of 1994 and may 21, 2011, the famous Y2k trembling. all passed filled with fear and yet we live to breath today.at large now is DEC. 21, 2012 predictions masterminded by the Mayans. its funny that this week in Europe and a lot of other western nations.. people have started stockpiling disaster and relief materials ranging from food to drugs and gadgets. you can check out twitter #apocalypse to see a lil how much people are believing.   The Mayan calendar, which spans more than 5,000 years, comes to an end on December 21, 2012. The significance of the end of the Mayan calendar has been the subject of an increasing desperation and curiosity. December 21, 2012, is the endpoint of the 5,126-year Great Cycle marked on the Mayan people's "Long Count" calendar. our calendar will align with the Maya date 13.0.0.0.0, completing a great Maya cycle of time.  Predictions on how, when and what will happen have seen the productions of movies like the 2009 movie "2012", resident evil, the post-apocalypse-like "hunger games.  The end of the Mayan calendar coincides with a galactic alignment, in which the Sun will align with the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It is said that this rare event occurs once every 26,000 years and some predict it will be the 2012 apocalypse, potentially catastrophic consequences. The theory goes that on the day of the winter solstice in 2012, the Sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way . This alignment could mean that energy which typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time. This galactic alignment has the potential to create a shift in the Earth's poles, initiating the 2012 apocalypse, which would involve a series of disastrous environmental events. There is also a good possibility that the effects will alter the magnetic polarity of the Sun. In combination with gravitational forces from the simultaneous alignment of other planets, this result might cause massive solar flares, and could even move the axis of the Earth. The 2012 apocalypse? what exactly are we to fear? the Mayans have always been taken serious for there achievements on civilization. Now in the 21st century, perhaps we have also reached a precipice. Global warming is not just fearful thinking -- it's real. Weeks after Superstorm Sandy, scientists are now predicting the near-term and long-term effects of global warming as more dire that previously thought.
